The Society
Since the mid 1990's, Youngstown, Ohio has been in a state of euphoria. Their crime rate is down, divorce rates are down, and people are happy just to be together. Some have reported feelings of overwhelming need to be in the company of their peers in the community.
MiStar Chemical Company (MCC), located right in the center of town, is the community's largest industrial employer. The company has been doing business for 60 years since 1948; for three generations of the Strong family. It was incepted by William T. Strong as a company committed to the research and application of chemicals designed to enhance animals used for food. Claiming to improve the world's food chain by genetically altering DNA of cattle with chemical additives, there only seemed to be positive outcomes. If cattle could produce more meat with less feed, or could produce more milk per animal, how could anyone argue the benefit?
By 2000, behaviors of the populace of Youngstown were drastically changing. People were beginning to spend more time in public places, just seeming to enjoy the company of each other. It was decided that a community group would be created called "The Society". People in the Society were concerned with the state of the legal system and how corruption and politics was more the ruling force than justice. They vowed to change that.
Today, a gruesome murder scene like the town has never seen has left everyone in town wondering what kind of person they have in their midst. Is their time of peace and tranquility coming to an end?
Angelina, a scientist who has been employed at MCC for the past 10 years, has a theory....and it has her a little concerned. Who would believe her, even if she were right?
